Norwegian collaborationist poster urges young Norwegians to join the Waffen SS "to fight against Bolshevism."The Norske Legion was the first attempt but it did not work as planned; it was disbanded in 1943; legionnaires returned to Norway from the Eastern Front with little good to say about the Germans, which caused the SS some difficulty when it tried to recruit Norwegians later in the war.
Two young German soldiers armed with Panzerfausts (anti-tank weapons) and Mauser rifles, march along Bankowa street in Lubań (Lauban), Lower Silesia. Towards the end of the war, German boys as young as fourteen and fifteen were often sent into battle to augment the dwindling numbers of able-bodied men. March 1945. Bravery unknown to us in today's world.
