c.1885. A heliotrope colored silk satin corset made in France for the American market.
The top of the corset has a narrow band of black lace trim. The bustline is very flared with cording for extra support. The abdomen is very full as well. A flared bust and abdomen area on a corset would have allowed someplace for the excess flesh to go to for maximum waist reduction.
The corset is completely boned with whalebone and is lined in white polished cotton.
