A German Obergefreiter (Corporal) belonging to an unknown Panzer Division, circa late 1942. This already hardened veteran sports the ribbon bar of the Iron Cross 2nd Class, an early version of the Panzer Badge (one cannot make out if it is the silver or bronze one) and a Wound Badge in Silver (2nd Class). The shield on his upper arm is the 'Krimschild' (Crimea Shield),a unique decoration awarded to all 11th Army personnel that took part in the conquest of the Crimean peninsula.
