John I, Duke of Cleves. Great grandfather of Anne of Cleves. John's older sister Catherine was mother of Mary of Guelders, Queen Consort of Scotland. Giving her a direct family line to Mary Queen of Scots and thus James I of England. John's youngest sister Marie was the mother of Louis XII, King of France. So through her great grandfather, Anne of Cleves had ties to the crowns of Scotland and France. John's sister Agnes had married a prince of Navarra, they had no children.
