Clematis cirrhosa var. purpurascens ‘Freckles' large evergreen climber with glossy dark green leaves tinged bronze in winter. Flowers 5cm during late autumn, winter or early spring. Good silky seed-heads. Requires a warm sheltered position but is generally hardy in an average winter. It thrives in any fertile, well-drained soil.
