THE EXECUTION SWORD OF MOHAMMED SHAH QAJAR A very rare example, the steel hilt with lobate pommel and guard of characteristic form displaying curled quillons with monsterhead terminals, engraved overall with worn parcel gilding. The fine blade long, broad and lightly curved, with faceted tip. Forged of actively-grained Persian Kara Khorassan black wootz damascus steel, with inlaid gold cartouches at the right forte. Datable between 1834-1848. Light wear. Overall length 93.3cm.
