Henry van de Velde (1863–1957) was a Flemish painter, architect, and interior designer. From 1902 to 1917, van de Velde was based in Weimar but was engaged throughout Europe, and it was during his time in Weimar that he created some of his greatest works.
Bing Gallery L'Art Nouveau - Art Nouveau was popularised by Siegfried Bing, who in 1895 opened a gallery in Paris called Galerie L'Art Nouveau and the style swept across Europe in a matter of a few years. Henry van de Velde designed most of the interior of the gallery, while Louis Comfort Tiffany supplied stained glass windows and screens. Bing’s gallery featured entire rooms designed in the Art Nouveau style, including fabrics designed by William Morris and furniture by Georges de Feure.
