Ornamental Plaque of a Knight on Horseback, Date: ca. 1300 Culture: Western European, possibly British Medium: Copper alloy, gold, The original use of this plaque is unknown; it may have decorated a tomb or perhaps an elaborate piece of furniture. It provides an excellent picture of a fully armored knight of the late thirteenth or early fourteenth century.
