Tsar Boris III - Under King Boris III, Bulgaria was the only nation in Europe to save its entire Jewish population during the Holocaust. Boris was one of the few world leaders who defied Hitler face to face during the war, refusing multiple times to deliver his Jewish citizens beyond the borders of his kingdom.
Alexander of Battenberg – He became the first prince of Bulgaria in 1879. His reign wasn't very successful and he lost the throne due to a military plot in 1886. Alexander was affianced to Princess Victoria of Prussia but Bismarck and Emperor Wilhelm I vetoed the marriage and the engagement was abolished. He later married the actress Johanna Loisinger, the couple had a son and a daughter. Alexander was born on 5 April 1857 in Verona.
