HMAS Anzac is the first of her class and a modern warship, capable of operating in a multi-threat environment. Anzac's design is based on the German Meko 200 Class that uses modular construction methods. A feature of this method was the ability to share the construction of the 8 Australian and 2 New Zealand vessels throughout Australia and New Zealand. Anzac is fitted with an advanced package of air surveillance radars; hull mounted sonar and electronic support systems.

We struggled with this one – but decided it was worth putting out there, as it’s not often you get to see an intrinsic part of naval warfare in such detail. On 19 November 1941, HMAS Sydney, a light cruiser of the Royal Australian Navy was lost with all 645 aboard following a battle with the German raider HSK Kormoran in the Indian Ocean off the Western Australian coast.The Kormoran was also sunk but 317 of its crew of 397 were rescued.
