I actually got a pair of gaiter no.1 pants. There is a lot of talk about how much they cost and some remarks about the quality to be found in some forums. But I really got them (I suppose, that most people did not - because of the price - and still write about it as if they had one). And believe me: they are the BEST pants you can buy for serious hiking. Tough, versatile, a lot of brilliant details. I actually just wore this one pant for one week and it was fantastic - though filthy.
Fjällräven - Keb Gaiter Trousers W
For bad days... (you actually need two pairs of trousers - one filthy and wet and the other one to wear in the camp/tent)
The LOWA desert. Probably one of the best boots for long walks with heavy luggage. It fits very well, as all LOWA boots do and you can even have different widths. It is right in between a heavy mountain-boot and a light hiking-boot. So it provides you with the best out of two worlds: supportive shaft and perfect cushioning while still rather light, breathable and comfy. LOWA Jagd, app. 160,- Euros
