1884 Christian Specht Building. 3-story commercial structure designed by Dufrene & Mendelssohn. Cast iron front mfgd by Western Cornice Works. Specht, a native of Berlin, moved to Omaha from Cincinnati in 1880 and estblshd Western Cornice Works, which mfgd galvanized iron cornices, metal dormer windows, finials, window caps, tin & iron roofing, & a metal skylight patented by Specht. Galvanized iron front designed in the Renaissance Revival style, popular in cast iron facades of the period.
