FALL 2013 RTW Salvatore Ferragamo / Coats are the new accessories. In a cold, snowy Milan they've become by necessity a much more important element of what showgoers are wearing than this It shoe or that one. The runways are telling the same story for Fall, Massimiliano Giornetti's Ferragamo runway included. Giornetti opened and closed with outerwear, driving home the house's new message about cool precision. In shades of black, navy, gray, and white, it was a departure from the craftier.
Spring 2014 Ready-to-Wear Altuzarra / Joseph Altuzarra made headlines this week when it was announced that Kering (the mother ship behind Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney, among other labels) had taken a minority interest in his company. This collection was completed before the deal was signed, but the news added to the buzz surrounding the designer's show, already one of the most anticipated of the New York season.
FALL 2013 READY-TO-WEAR Loewe / The cinematic femme fatale has emerged in many designers' collections this season. Loewe is no exception; only here there was a very Spanish twist to such a woman. She also likes to be clad in animal skins on almost every occasion—this is a leather house, after all—although a nice silk shirtdress will do now and again.
