Mixco Viejo: Ruins consist of 15 groups containing the remains of over 120 major structures, including temples, palaces, and ballcourts.  Strung out over 0.62 mi along a 2,890 ft high ridge less than 3 miles from the juncture of the Pixcaya & Motagua Rivers. Site is surrounded by deep ravines dropping off sharply into a tributary of the Pixcaya. After the siege, Alvarado ordered it to be burned and moved the inhabitants to the new colonial village of Mixco.
