Brocade with Basilisks, Turquoise This fabric is a replica of a 14th century fabric from a dalmatic in Halberstadt, Germany, mentioned in Otto von Falke's book Decorative Silks. The fabric was woven in Italy but the designs shows Chinese influence, as was typical for many European fabrics of this period. The fabric shows birds and bazilisks, a European modification of Chinese dragons.
