Sans-culottes: meaning "without knee breeches," baggy, loose fitting trousers worn by members of the working class who were in support of the French Revolution. The Carmagnole jacket was an element of dress of the sans-culottes.

Sans-culottes refers to a lower-class Parisian republican that is in favor of the French Revolution.

Sans-culottes means witthout breeches. Poor men of the late eighteenth century and early nineteenth century wore these and became radical and militant partisans of the French Revolution in response to their poor quality of life under the Ancien Régime.
