There are a few different ways to achieve a nice high key image done with studio lighting and natural light. Here's how I do it.

Wanted to try some low key work. Shoot through umbrella strobe to the right 1/16th, snooted strobe 1/4 power to the left to light the smoke. Originally planned for the soft light to be the main, but the snooted strobe has also made some specular highlights of the candle and the holder. More by luck than judgement, this has given the whole thing some good depth and contrast.

Beginners Lighting Tip: Lighting is important. Make sure to have consistent lighting temperatures with key, back, and fill lights (also known as three point lighting). Mixing the temperatures will provide uneven lighting and can really ruin a shot. Also make sure each light is properly placed to give the person or object the best possible appearance.
