Winter flowering clematis bring cheer to the garden in the dullest months. These are hardy enough to grow outside in the UK in winter, and flower from November to February. These evergreen climbers can be grown through other plants, such as climbing or rambling roses, where they extend the season of colour and interest, flowering when the rose is dormant.

Red is a strong colour, but it’s intensity can be played with depending on what you pair it with. Accentuate it by teaming it with its polar opposite on the colour wheel - green, or cool it down with a silver backdrop. It will also dazzle with yellows and oranges.
