Longmorn 18 Years Old Whisky, Double Cask Matured, American Oak Barrels and Hogsheads, 48.0% Abv

This is unlike a typical Longmorn which tends to exhibit more sweetness and bright fruits. What’s great is that it is big on dried fruits and oak with plenty of depth. However, I would venture that this is best enjoyed with a bit of water on the side to open up the palate and ease up on the spice.

Springbank 12 Year Old Whisky, 55.4%, 2021, Batch 22

Rich, well-balanced, complex and satisfying! This is pretty good to enjoy straight up. I personally recommend pouring a second dram and slowly sipping this Springbank over the course of 3 – 5 minutes to really uncover each layer. Let the whisky breathe a little for at least 3 minutes and the alcohol burn gets down to a more manageable level. With its harmonious blend of sweetness and savouriness, this should really be enjoyed with mild flavoured smoked meats with a sweet glaze.

Black Snake Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Vat No. 1 Fifth Venom, Bottled June 2017, ABV 60.7%

Enmore Distillery, Versailles Still, 27 Year Old, 51.2% ABV, That Boutique-y Rum Company, Guyana

Tasting this Versailles rum is indeed quite a sensory experience, as the notes were pretty much on the extreme ends. But it also echoes the idea of DDL’s Master Distiller Shaun Caleb when he said that the premium demerara rums were intentionally distilled with a unique taste profile, to combine sweetness with savouriness, resulting in a complex sipping rum for the rum lovers out there. Highland, Aberfeldy, 16 Years Old, ABV 40%

Nose: Sweet Honeyed Apples, nice sweet aroma Taste: Sweet crunchy zesty like taste, sweetness covering a mild wood bitterness. Finish: short lingering pear like sweetness, light warmness on the throat. Excited to get pear at the finish, actually quite hard for me to identify taste, only very general taste that I usually get. Speyside, The Macallan, 12 Years Old Whisky, ABV 40%
