Kaiser Wilhelm II (1859-1941) & 1st wife Auguste Victoria “Dona” (1858-1921) on a German Postcard by T. Voigt in 1910. Auguste died shortly after word came of the suicide of her beloved son Joachim (1890-1920). Her body was sent back to Germany for burial the Kaiser having to say his last farewell at the Dutch border & even in the new republican Germany her loss was an occasion of great mourning.
Wilhelm II (Kaiser Wilhelm II) Lived 1859 – 1941, was the last German Emperor (Kaiser) and King of Prussia, ruling the German Empire and the Kingdom of Prussia from 1888 to 1918. A grandson of Queen Victoria and first cousin of Empress Alexandra of Russia. An ineffective war leader, he lost the support of the army, abdicated in November 1918, and fled to exile in the Netherlands.
