It is a radio/TV broadcast tower named for German physicist Heinrich Hertz. The building was completed in 1968. There are 8 concentric platforms. At 420' up, the lowest platform had a 2-story observation floor and restaurant (with high speed elevators) that have since been closed due to asbestos. At 492' is the operations platform.
