The Black Norwegian Elkhound was bred in ancient Norway for elk hunting. Even today it is rarely seen outside Scandinavia. The Black Norwegian is comfortable in urban environments and handles cold well, but it requires frequent grooming, is quarrelsome during training, and needs lots of exercise.
