I love Dagoba in our family’s traditional birthday cake recipe. The cake recipe came from my German neighbor, Mrs. Hohmann, and uses sour kraut in the chocolate cake. When my kids were little, they always begged for a Sauerkraut Kuchen for every birthday. Not only was the cake yummy, but they loved to whisper in their friends’ ears that the secret ingredient was sauer kraut. Eeewww, the kids would say. But they always asked for second helpings.
