Still of Isabelle Allen in Les Misrables
Les Miserables (1978) Well done TV movie, aired in a rerun on A&E I believe. The original way I learned the story of Valjean and Javert. I had heard the music from the Broadway production on PBS concerts, but never knew the story until I saw this one. Actually, I like this version best!
Directed by Tom Hooper. With Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried. In 19th-century France, Jean Valjean, who for decades has been hunted by the ruthless policeman Javert after breaking parole, agrees to care for a factory worker's daughter. The decision changes their lives for ever.
