Poyang Lake was once China's largest freshwater lake. It has largely evaporated because of drought and a nearby dam on the Yangtzee River. The Poyang has dipped to 5% of its usual capacity, causing water shortages for over 1 million people. The Landsat image was acquired July 14, 1989, and the ASTER image on October 3, 2015. They cover an area of 51 by 57 km, and are located at 29.2 degrees north, 116.2 degrees east.
