How To: Transform a Fireplace Mantel into a Headboard
I’ve never thought of myself as the upholstered headboard type, but I am a DIYer to a fault, so my first thought upon spotting a lonely mantelpiece at a local antique shop was, “great headboard.” When the shopkeeper offered it to me for $10, I convinced myself that upholstered headboards were the only way to go. Here’s how it went from hearth to dream space…
Designer Ashli Mizell’s influence is everywhere in the master bedroom of a historic Philadelphia townhouse. While more neutral than some of the other spaces in the home, the room emphasizes quiet pattern and a liberal layering of textures. A tufted velvet headboard and leather Edelman bench bookend the bed, while a romantic chandelier from ABC Home twinkles opposite an antique mirror that hangs above the King of Prussia marble mantelpiece.
I found a beautiful green mantle at my favorite antique store here in Jackson, I've been looking up all kinds of ideas, but haven't found one I really dig. I'll have to post whatever I end up doing with it :)
