Cleaning sterling silver jewelry: Line a plastic or glass container with aluminum foil. Place silver jewelry on the foil making sure each piece touches the foil. Sprinkle baking 1T soda and 1T salt over and cover with 1c boiling water. Use a spoon to swirl the jewelry around until it is untarnished. (I did this and was amazed how fast it worked and how clean my sterling was!)

Nothing worked. I couldn’t get my (very) tarnished silver jewelry clean and shiny. Short of paying a professional to steam clean my jewelry, I’d tried everything and been disappointed. Recipe for homemade jewelry cleaner. Even though this said it can be used on silver, I did and I would not suggest it. White gold cleaned great, but silver pieces had some yellowish discoloration and removed some antiquing black on a ring. Jewelry cloths rubbed the discoloration gone. Still, be careful with silver and I wouldn't pearls either.
