Ginger Rogers - Born Virginia Katherine McMath in Independence in 1911, Ginger Rogers is known for the many musicals in which she danced with Fred Astaire.  In 1941, she won her only Oscar in "Kitty Foyle."  Although Rogers spent most of her childhood in Texas, she attended kindergarten and first grade at Benton school in KC.
