Owl Butterfly (Caligo memnon) -- The Owl Butterflies from the rainforests of Central and South America are named for the dramatic eyespots on the underside of the lower wing, which look much like the large staring eyes of an owl. This butterfly feeds on rotting fruit, and is most active at dawn and dusk, when its awkward flapping flight will remind you of a bat.
