December 26, 1933, Wilbur Underhill was celebrating his honeymoon in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Tipped off, a strike force led by R.H. Colvin and Frank Smith, the latter a survivor of the Kansas City Massacre called on him to surrender, Underhill began firing and the task force (above) returned. Shot and wounded, Underhill was taken to McAlester prison where he remained, handcuffed in his bed until his death on January 6, 1934. His last words were "Tell the boys I'm coming home"
