Duchess Helene in Bavaria Helene was supposed to marry Emperor Franz-Josef of Austria. But he chose her younger sister Elisabeth (Sisi) which pitched Helene into a deep depression. She finally married Maximilian Anton of Thurn & Taxis who died aged 36. Helene dedicated her life to charitable activities and was involved in the House of Thurn and Taxis' business affairs, she first lead the family until her oldest son reached his majority and again after he died. She was born on 4 April 1834
Princess Elizabeth Bagaya, Uganda's first female lawyer and Cabinet member. She was fired as Cabinet member for refusing to marry Idi Amin. She is from the royal family of the Batoro tribe. Toro was one of the four kingdome which was abolished in 1967 by former President Milton Obote. She became Uganda's ambassador to the United States in 1986. (Info: Jet Magazine, June 1986)
With New York City as a backdrop, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (first car) proceed up the Westside highway along the Hudson en route to the New York World's Fair, on June 10, 1939, soon after they landed at the Battery. A score of New York motorcycle police surrounded the royal car, and several men stood guard on the running boards.
