Easington Colliery circa 1968 Graphite pen and watercolour drawn from memory of the first landscape sketch I ever did looking out of the Survey Office window. The only reference I had was old photos at 90 degrees to this view. That's me and my two assistants Geordie Vickers and Norman Walker in the foreground heading underground to do some survey work.

National Coalmining Museum, Wakefield No Redemption 13/02/2012 to 20/05/2012 A new photography exhibition offering a powerful look at the 1984/5 Miners’ Strike opens at the Museum on Monday 13th February. This free major exhibition is taken from the book ‘No Redemption’, which records Keith Pattison time spent at the Easington Colliery in County Durham during the Miners’ Strike.

Easington Colliery 1950s - This is where I'm from - obviously not in the 50's however the buildings haven't changed much but the majority are boarded up - sad to see the demise of this once thriving community :(
