Regent Street, London is one of the West End鈥檚 major shopping streets; named after the Prince Regent (later George IV) and commonly associated with architect John Nash, whose street layout from 1825 survives today. Regent Street runs from the Regent鈥檚 residence at Calton House in St. James鈥檚, through Piccadilly Circus, crosses Oxford Street at the busy Oxford Circus, and terminates at All Souls Church.

St Martin's was the private chapel of Queen Bertha of Kent in the 6th century before Augustine arrived from Rome. Queen Bertha was a Christian Frankish princess who arrived in England with her Chaplain, Bishop Liudhard. King Æthelberht of Kent, her husband, allowed her to continue to practise her religion in an existing church which the Venerable Bede says had been in use in the late Roman period but had fallen into disuse. It is the oldest parish church in continuous use in England.
