"This force explains everything and gives meaning to life. This is the variable that we have ignored for too long, maybe because we are afraid of love because it is the only energy in the universe that man has not learned to drive at will."

On 25 November 1915, in the journal Annalen der Physik, Albert Einstein published the theory which would make him famous.

On this day (27 Sep) in 1905 a paper arrived at the editorial offices of the journal Annalen der Physik. The author was Albert Einstein; the title, "Does the Inertia of a Body Depend Upon Its Energy Content?" In the paper, Einstein introduced the concept of matter-energy equivalence. Although E = mc² does not appear in the paper, the famous equation is present implicitly in the sentence, "If a body gives off the energy L in the form of radiation, its mass diminishes by L/c²."
