macro & insect photography on Instagram: "Diatom arrangements 🔬😍 Here is another panoramic image of an arrangement of diatoms I made some time ago with diatoms from Newport Beach, California. 😊 Last week I’ve been back to arranging and was reminded on how close joy and despair are in this ancient art. As the diatoms are so small you need a single hair to manipulate them. And a very very steady hand… 🤚 When things work out you can move around the diatoms with the hair and make these beautiful patterns. The thing is this takes a very long time and you basically can’t make mistakes… When you do you usually ruin the work of several days and wonder why the hell you just spent a dozen hours staring at a circle with a diameter of 2 mm only to tap your finger on the arrangement (happened to me
